چکیده

Proper Generalized Decomposition (PGD) is a method which consists in looking for the solution to a problem in a separate form. This approach has been increasingly used over the last few years to solve mathematical problems. The originality of this work consists in the association of PGD with a spectral collocation method to solve transfer equations as well as Navier–Stokes equations. In the first stage, the PGD method and its association with spectral discretization is detailed. This approach was tested for several problems: the Poisson equation, the Darcy problem, Navier–Stokes equations (the Taylor Green problem and the lid-driven cavity). In the Navier–Stokes problems, the coupling between velocity and pressure was performed using a fractional step scheme and a PN—PNÿ2 discretization. For all problems considered, the results from PGD simulations were compared with those obtained by a standard solver and/or with the results found in the literature. The simulations performed showed that PGD is as accurate as standard solvers. PGD preserves the spectral behavior of the errors in velocity and pressure when the time step or the space step decreases. Moreover, for a given number of discretization nodes, PGD is faster than the standard solvers. Ó 2013 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Schwarz domain decomposition for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in general co-ordinates

This report describes a domain decomposition method for the incompressible NavierStokes equations in general coordinates. Domain decomposition techniques are needed if we want to solve ows in complex geometries. The discretization is performed by a nite volume method combined with a staggered grid arrangement. The domain decomposition technique is of Schwarz type combined with a GMRES accelerat...

Spectral Direction Splitting Schemes for the Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations

We propose and analyze spectral direction splitting schemes for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The schemes combine a Legendre-spectral method for the spatial discretization and a pressure-stabilization/direction splitting scheme for the temporal discretization, leading to a sequence of one-dimensional elliptic equations at each time step while preserving the same order of accuracy ...

Fast Iterative Solvers for the Discretized Incompressible Navier-stokes Equations

In this paper some iterative solution methods of the GMRES type for the discretized Navier-Stokes equations are treated. The discretization combined with a pressure correction scheme leads to two different types of systems of linear equations: the momentum system and the pressure system. These systems may be coupled to one or more transport equations. For every system we specify a particular LU...

Non-overlapping Domain Decomposition Applied to Incompressible Flow Problems

A non-overlapping domain decomposition method with Robin-type transmission conditions which is known for scalar advection-diffusion-reaction problems [2],[5] is generalized to cover the Oseen equations. The presented method, which is later referred to as DDM, is an additive iteration-by-subdomains algorithm. Hence parallelism is given in a very natural way. The formulation is based on the conti...
